Dr. Martin Quirno joined Elite Specialty Care in 2020. He currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Langone Health. A Native of Brazil, Dr. Quirno lived in Sao Paulo until 16 years of age. He later moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina with his family to attend the Argentine prestigious CEMIC Medical School where he received a merit scholarship and graduated with an Honors Diploma. His tenacity and pursuit for excellence led him to the United States where he met Dr. Thomas Errico, Director of the Spinal Surgery Division at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases who invited him to join as a research fellow.Dr. Quirno is a fellowship trained Spine Surgeon who provides consultations and treatment for patients with both common and complex spinal disorders and deformities. The goals of his practice are to minimize pain, restore function and improve quality of life for his patients.Dr. Quirno completed his orthopedic residency at the NYU Langone Health program where he was awarded the Reicher Award for Excellence in Research twice.
He was also invited to participate in the prestigious Orthopedic Basic science research fellowship at the Musculoskeletal Research Center at NYU HJD between his second and third year of residency. He later received additional training as a Spine Fellow at RUSH Medical Center/Shriners Hospital for Children, where he was fortunate enough to train with the most respected deformity, minimally invasive surgery and motion preservation surgeons in the country in what is considered the best training ground in the field.
Throughout both his spine research fellowships, as well as during residency and clinical fellowships, he has received multiple awards, published numerous peer-reviewed papers and has presented his research both nationally and internationally over 80 times. He is the author of multiple chapters on surgery of the spine and editor of orthopedic journals.
Dr. Quirno is dedicated to serving his patients, continuing his medical education, and teaching other physicians. He is currently a member of multiple orthopedic and spinal surgery societies including NASS (North American Spine Society), AAOS (American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons), ISSAS (International Society for the Advancement of Spinal Surgery).
